Papers relating to the British seizure of American ships, 1793-1801. 1793-1801.

The collection contains correspondence relating to British seizure of American ships between 1793-1801. Four of the letters were written by American captains whose ships were seized by the British in the West Indies. Letters in the collection written by David Ross, Christopher Clousen, and Richard Watson tell of being stopped, searched, detained, of mistreatment by the British and encounters with pirates.
